Anyone read Charley Walters' "Don't Print That" section today? Don't be surprised if the Timberwolves, on track for a top-three overall pick in June's NBA draft, target 6-foot-4 Memphis point guard Derrick Rose with their first-round choice. Really? What else you got for us Shooter? Several businesses have reported that the Timberwolves are knocking door to door trying to sell ticket packages. Stop the presses! The Wolves are desperately trying to sell tickets!
Don't worry, I know when I'm being a jerk. And yes, Shooter was right about the Hassell/Buckner trade, so one can only assume that he's on to something with these insider tidbits.
In other news, the Arlington Heights Daily Herald appears unready to drop the Garnett to Chicago/Celtics Conspiracy talk: The thing is, there's a wide-spread belief around the league that the Bulls never had a chance. Garnett was either staying in Minnesota or going to Boston, because Timberwolves GM Kevin McHale played for the Celtics and wanted to hook up his good friend, Boston boss Danny Ainge.
Enough sniping at the professional media. There was a good story by Jerry Zgoda posted yesterday about how Antoine Walker spent his summer vacation, in light of the Sean Taylor murder. I, for one, had forgotten about Toine's run-in with the criminal element, in his own home none the less.

This is almost as good as
This is almost as good as when he wrote that the Twins will either trade, draft or sign someone to replace Torii Hunter. You think? Although, there could be an outside chance that the Twinkies will perfect the genetic cloning process and manufacture a Torii replicate before the start of next season.
Should we make Canis Hoopus the official home of Timberwolves Derrick Rose man crushes? :) The big USC game is tonight. Rose v Mayo. You know, if the puppies don't get Rose (for whatever reason; they go big or he is drafted before they pick), I'm really hoping that DJ Augustine makes it to the 2nd round. He won't, but hey...I'm a hopeless optimist. Don't rule out Kyle Weaver or Derrick Low with the 2nd pick; although, the Wolves will almost have to take a frontcourt player with their second pick. I'll have a post up on their frontcourt problems tomorrow. 1/2 the team could come off the books next year....all F/C; Ratliff, Doleac, Green, Smith, Richard, and Gomes. At this point, I'm not sure you resign any of them. I think you get by with a bare minimum; 1-2 year deals and 2nd rounders until you can play the free agent market after the 2009-10 season. If they play their cards right, they could have 20 million to spend. I'll put this scenario in tomorrow's post too.
I'll try to watch some of
I'll try to watch some of the game tonight. Then PERHAPS this will be the official Derrick Rose MBLA.... points for deciphering, negative points for agreeing. I haven't even thought about 2nd rounders yet. But, we should have our own 1st rounder, and probably our 2nd rounder (we owe Detroit a 2nd, but we can put it off until 2009). Then, Miami owes us a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder. However, if they continue sucking this bad, they may get out of the 1st rounder this year. Also, be sure to check out your friendly neighborhood Canis Hoopus contract and draft info up at the top. How 'bout that tag cloud???
