Miami Herald: Trade Rumors Swirling About Heat. Mentions the Wolves as possible trading partners with the Heat, specifically because of our glut at the swing positions and Miami's needs there after losing James Posey to Boston, Eddie Jones to Dallas and Jason Kapono to Toronto this offseason. They did draft Daequan Cook and sign Penny Hardaway, but Ricky Buckets or Trenton Hassell would likely provide an upgrade over either of those two.

Two new tidbits from Sid at the Strib: Glen Taylor says that KG asked for an extension but refused to take a pay-cut. The Bulls then decided they didn't want him at that price. Taylor also said he "wanted to replace Dwane Casey as coach earlier than he did, but that Randy Wittman turned him down as a replacement the first time before deciding to accept the challenge on Jan. 24. And Wittman said he wasn't going to sign a multi-year contract as the permanent coach unless he was made some promises about improving the roster and keeping salaries competitive. " WHAT?!?!? Where does Randy Wittman get off making those kinds of demands? He hasn't finished a season above .400 EVER. And although the locker room and sideline seemed out of Dwane Casey's control, I still think he got hosed. The team was .500 and they can the coach?

Hoopshype is reporting that the Wolves will sign center John Edwards. Not only is this exciting news for Minnesota basketball fans grasping for something, nay anything, to talk about in the annual lulla-month known as "September," BUT, this is also great news for fans of the presidential candidate, the psychic, and the 18th century minister who penned "Sinners in the hands of an angry God." If he makes the team, the signs at the Target Center will and must include "Edwards for President," "Cross-him Over Edwards," and "Do not you know that
you are going down to hell, to bear the dreadful wrath of that God?" or something like that.

Sporting News: Class of 2004 up for raises. Mentions Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Kevin Martin and Emeka Okafor. No Al Jefferson.

Philadelphia Daily News: More on Pinckney joing the Wolves bench. He signed a two-year deal with the Wolves and apparently Randy Foye's presence on the team was a significant factor in his decision.

Morning News 9/14

New Olreans Hornets Fan Blog predicts Wolves finish last in West (good blog name, btw). - "Sure, they got a legitimate post threat in Al Jefferson. Brewer, Foye or McCants should work out eventually at shooting guard. But they have no point guard(Telfair?), center(Blount?), or Small Forward.(Trenton Hassell?). They have no backup bigs. This team is going to be very, very bad." There has been a lot of disagreement about whether Randy Foye can be a point guard. However, I think it's mostly among those who didn't watch him run the point last year. He's not pure, but exhibited good ball-control and improved at running the offense late last season. Corey Brewer doesn't seem to be as much of a shooting guard as he is a small forward to me. He's listed as 6'9", but I bet that's generous. 6'7" is definitely enough to play the 3. Sure they're a bit thin up front, but Gomes/Smith/Blount/Ratliff/Madsen (eventually)/Richard (hopefully) is a start. We might be bad this year, but New Orleans Hornets Fan doesn't seem to have a good grasp on the Wolves' state.
